Movies on the laser
The Laser: Hallmark of the Photonics Century
Today, the laser is synonymous with innovation and progress. It is impossible to imagine our everyday lives without laser technology: compact data storage media such as CDs and DVDs, fast data transmission via fiber optics, high-precision production technology and advanced laser medicine are just a few examples. The laser exerts an enormous fascination on many people. The film shows the history of the laser from the basic idea to its development as an effective instrument in various areas of application.
Icons in Light
Nothing has fascinated mankind more than light. In the ancient world men tried to decipher its laws. The film "Icons in Light" takes the audience on an exciting 15-minute tour of the light cosmos. It highlights the most important milestones in the history of light and its protagonists of the last 3000 years: from the light of the ancient Greeks to the application of today's laser beams.
Laser cutting – then and now
In 1979 TRUMPF presented the TRUMATIC 180 LASERPRESS (TC 180 L) for flexible sheet metal working. Using a 750 Watt CO2-Laser the machine cut through thin sheet metal without touch and wear. The freely programmable shapes had a high-quality cutting edge. It was a quantum leap at that time. The power of the laser light was not yet sufficient to create a hole to start from, so the laser was combined with a punching machine: The birth of the combined punching/laser machine that still plays an important role in sheet metal processing. With a multiple of the laser power of the first machine and intelligent process control the 2D laser cutting machine TruLaser 3030 NEW demonstrates high-end laser cutting 30 years later.
